Description

Beggs Bush is administered by the Department of Conservation. The Beggs Bush Landcare group works with DoC in carrying out approved projects there. The current project is planting and maintaining natives in the site of a previous pine plantation at the entrance to the native forest. Also marking tracks through the forest to selected historical sites and natural features. Access is available along 300 meters by 10 meters of DOC land across a privately owned paddock.

Historic involvement

Beggs Bush was formerly a part of Jack Beggs farm. He gifted this part for public use, through the New Zealand Forest Service, in 1975.
