Description

A mature podocarp forest remnant, with half owned by Southland Kindergarten Association, the other half privately owned and under a DOC covenant.

Historic involvement

In 2008, Myross Bush Landcare Group (now no longer active) having gained a Biodiversity Condition Fund grant, undertook significant control of large sycamore and holly. Following this, in conjunction with Myross Bush School, the Landcare Group did plantings to help regenerate the bush area. Southland Kindergarten Association purchased half of the block of Kerr Bush in 2014 and had a successful Bush Kindergarten programme running daily. Children explored the area looking for plants, birds, and bugs, they also experienced planting new seedlings and they had the opportunity to learn about pests and pest control.
