WLG/F&B World Wetlands Day Celebration

21 February 2015

A trip through the Waituna Catchment hearing about actions being taken by landowners to protect biodiversity and improve water quality. PROGRAMME 10.00am Warnock’s Farm, 226 Mokotua Rd – check out the wetland development, one of the tools recommended to remove nutrients from the drainage systems before they reach the streams. 10.45am van Gool’s Farm - the restoration of the original Bay Bush and protection of tussock gully systems, along with riparian plantings along the Jordan Stream. 12.15pm Munro’s Farm – Lunch break (BYO picnic lunch ) Wetland protection with QEII, moats used as stock barriers, walk through peatbog/regenerating forest. 2.30pm Whitepine Rd – Battering of the banks, Shag Bush restoration. 3.15pm Waghorn’s Lookout – Afternoon tea & some Waituna tales with Murray Waghorn For further information please contact Gay Munro, ph 239 5827 or email [Enable JavaScript to view protected content] If you would like to carpool from Invercargill, meet at the Southland Museum at 9.30am

The wetland area is protected by a QEII National Trust Open Space Covenant.
