NZERN Spring Field Day 2004

Riverton Restoration. The stops included Te Wai Korari; Taramea Bay Plantings; Mores Reserve/Aparima Pestbusters; Pourakino Reserve/Men of the Trees; South Coast Environment.

Te Wai Korari. This wetland purchased by the Riverton Estuary Care Society has been developed to encourage whitebait spawning.
Taramea Bay. Native plantings undertaken by the Southland District Council have used appropriate native wetland species like toe toe and Carex.
Mores Reserve. Aparima Pestbusters have spearheaded both animal pest and weed control around this Southland District Council reserve.
Templeton's Flax Mill Museum. A demonstration of bygone days when flax was of direct economic benefit.
Pourakino Reserve. Men of the Trees are working on the northern corner of this DoC Reserve, undertaking weed control and reveging with beech.
