Te Rere Penguin Reserve Work Day

Saturday, July 25, 2009

Free transport available to the Te Rere Penguin Reserve on the Catlins coast for the main winter planting Work Day. Bookings essential to Brian Rance 03 2131161 or email rances@ihug.co.nz

The 67 hectare Forest and Bird Te Rere penguin reserve project is probably the longest running restoration project in Southland - for over 25 years supporters have planted many thousands of locally sourced native plants to transform paddock areas back to native forest. A large colony of Yellow-eyed penguins nest in the area, in this spectacular coastal location. Full day event, bring warm clothes, wet weather gear, gumboots, gloves and lunch. Back to Invercargill around 6pm. See projects on this website for photographs.
